Pumpkin Trio

Hello friends! I just thought I'd try to post something during my lunch break for you. Here's another fun fall card for your viewing pleasure.

For this one I started with a Crumb Cake card base, rounded the corners with the corner punch then sponged Whisper White craft ink around the sides. I then used the diamond border from the  Border Banter stamp set stamped in Crumb Cake ink onto Very Vanilla card stock. After stamping the diamond border I lightly went over the entire piece of card stock lightly with whisper white craft ink to soften the colors a little bit. I then cut out the 3 circles using a 1-3/8 inch circle punch. Next, I used the pumpkin from the  Button Buddies stamp set. I colored the pumpkins using the Tangerine Tango and Wild Wasabi markers which were stamped onto Whisper White card stock which was then adhered with Snail adhesive to the card base. I then tied a piece of white baker's twine around the Very Vanilla card stock a couple times then popped the layer on Stampin' Dimensionals adhesive. I'm really pleased with how cute it turned out. Enjoy!

Spider Web

Here's an oldie but a goodie:

It's so easy to create a great background just using the Spider Web Textured Impressions Embossing Folder from Stampin' Up! To give it that extra oomph, I used a sponge dauber dipped in Shimmer Paint and painted the lines of the web. Super easy! You could, of course, embellish this however you like. I actually had a customer buy this card just as it is.

Eye of Newt

Eye of newt and toe of frog,
Wool of bat and tongue of dog,
Adder's fork and blind-worm's sting,
Lizard's leg and howlet's wing,
For a charm of powerful trouble
Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.

That is part of the incantation of the Three Witches in Shakespeare's Macbeth.  (It's okay to say that name outside of the theater. I checked.) Witch spells with ooey-gooey body parts always seem appropriate this time of year and the grosser the better.

As soon as I finished this card I knew I wanted to call it "Eye of Newt." It just seemed appropriate. Who wouldn't want a jar full of eyeballs on Halloween? Me, that's who! In card form super cute and not at all gross. But a real jar of eyes....? No thanks.

As a little bonus, if you'd like to listen to the song from the Harry Potter film in which they sing of this incantation, you can find it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EMzrgXFeX_o

What Do The Doctor & Han Solo Have In Common?

Pardon me for a moment while I go a bit morbid. I was looking up ideas for Halloween costumes for my nieces today and somehow I was directed to this article at "Once Upon a Geek." Okay, I guess I kinda know how I got there; I was thinking about how to make a T.A.R.D.I.S and a Dalek into a costume for a 2 month old. This will probably be the ONLY time in their lives when *I* get to decide what they wear so I'm going to go all out. (My sister said they are going as babies for Halloween. Unacceptable!) Anyway, it just so happens that there are super, ultra, mega Dr. Who fans out there one of whom unfortunately passed away and was actually buried in this:

I know that once you're gone it really doesn't matter what you are buried in but who says you can't go out in style? This article featured other casket options and another one of my favorites is this:

Yeah, it's not a subject I especially like thinking about but I did think it was funny and disturbing to have these sorts of options available.

Here's to geeking it up even in the afterlife!

Here's to You

I think the color orange does not get used enough throughout the year. Yes, it's perfect for fall but what about the other uses of it? The vibrancy of it? It's a great summer color. I just think in general orange doesn't get the respect it deserves so I made it part of my mission to use it in today's card:

Welcome Home, Juliet!

Do you know someone who just moved? Or who bought their first house? Fortunately I do and of course I had to make a card to celebrate the occasion. Once again it's my new friend Juliet who will receive this card. (I know I've mentioned her before and I'm just now realizing that I've talked about her in just about every post this month. Sheesh. Stalk much?!)

This card couldn't be easier to make and it is actually a good way to use up some of those left over pieces of paper you have lying around but don't have the heart to throw away. For the house, I basically just cut a rectangular piece of Just Add Cake DSP, then for the roof I cut a square piece of Early Espresso Card Stock and cut it in half corner to corner. It was as simple as that. I decided I wanted a chimney so for that I just used some left over scraps from the World Treasure Friend card I made the other day. Then that finishing touch was to punch out a heart then put it above the chimney. Besides gluing the chimney stack directly to the card base, I adhered everything using Stampin' Dimensionals. Easy peasy!

Birthday Butterflies

A friend of mine had a birthday recently. Two of her favorite things are butterflies and anything purple so I  knew I had to use those things in her card. Here's what I came up with:

This card was so easy to create thanks to Stampin' Up! Not only are the tools like the punches convenient and easy to use but Stampin' Up! also coordinates their products. Since my friend adores purple so much, I chose to use Rich Razzleberry Card Stock as my base for this card. I knew I wanted to use some coordinating printed paper and it was so easy to decide which one to use because Stampin' Up! tells you which colors will go with the Designer Series Paper (DSP). I happen to love the Summer Smooches DSP so I used that for the first layer of this card. A couple of butterfly punches and a stamped sentiment later I had a birthday card. All this cuteness in just a matter of minutes!

World Treasure Friend

I'm continually amazed at how a simple card can make such an impact. With very few "ingredients" you can make a really lovely card:

Another wonderful thing about Stampin' Up! is that they make their products so that they coordinate with each other. For example the "One who finds a faithful friend finds a treasure" sentiment is easily stamped onto Very Vanilla Card Stock using Early Espresso ink. Instead of cutting the shape out by hand, you simply place the matching Apothecary Accents die over the sentiment and cut it out by running it through the Big Shot Die-Cut Machine. It's really quite easy and looks so professional. I don't know about you but I have a hard time cutting straight lines with scissors. Using the Big Shot is so easy and fun! What are your favorite projects to make with the Big Shot?
