Make a Cake Birthday

Today's card features the Make a Cake stamp set from Stampin' Up! It's my sister's birthday and I wanted to make her something using this set so here's what I came up with:

I knew I had to use yellow because that's her favorite color but I wasn't quite sure which direction I wanted to take it. That's why I'm so thankful that Stampin' Up! coordinates all their products. I looked at the stash of Designer Series Paper I had and made my color scheme from that. I went with the Floral District DSP which features the following colors: Baja Breeze, Daffodil Delight, Lucky Limeade, Rich Razzleberry, Rose Red, Tangerine Tango, and Whisper White.

Knowing that, I used Baja Breeze, Daffodil Delight, Tangerine Tango, Whisper White but I also branched out and used Midnight Muse - I wanted a bold, dark color and Midnight Muse really fit the bill. A few punches with the Petite Pennant Builder Punch, a quick stamp of the cake and a "jeuje" of glitter and we have a super cute card.

Happy Birthday, Karen! I know it'll be one of the best birthdays ever since you get to be with the babies! Yay! I love you!

Fall-Inspired Card

Seeing fall in all her glory inspired me to make this card. The theme may be fall colors but this card is suitable for just about any occasion. It's not especially girly so it would work for a guy, too. Bonus!

I made this card using the Perfectly Preserved Stamp Set and Cannery Framelits Dies once again. I very much {heart} these two sets.  I also was able to feature the Comfort Café Designer Series Paper which went beautifully with the fall colors: Cajun Craze, Summer Starfruit and Early Espresso. One tool that I used for this project that I think is under utilized is the Color Spritzer Tool. With this tool and a Cajun Craze marker I was able to add the splattered effect you see on the card base. It's subtle but it kicks it up a notch - it gives the card that "something" that was missing.

Silver Embossed Ornaments

I hope you were able to enjoy your Thanksgiving day. A friend of  mine invited me to spend the afternoon with her and we had a very nice time together. Thanks, Caryn, for the yummy food and friendship!

Now that Thanksgiving is over we have to gear up for Christmas. I've been trying out my holiday stamps for ideas for my upcoming open house card-making day. Here's a sample of what the attendees can make:

So simple yet elegant. Simply take the desired ornament stamp from the Ornament Keepsakes set and stamp it in VersaMark ink onto Whisper White card stock then sprinkle the silver embossing powder over the image, heat set and cut out with the Holiday Ornaments framelits die. I also stamped the Merry Christmas sentiment from the Greetings of the Season stamp set directly onto the Midnight Muse card stock again using the VersaMark ink, sprinkled the silver embossing powder over the sentiment and heat set the image. In a matter of moments you have a beautiful card.

If you would like to stop by and get a jump on your cards, just shoot me an email or give me a call. I'd be happy to show you how easy it is to make such beautiful cards in a matter of moments!

Sweet Christmas Candy

Whether we like it or not, Christmas is right around the corner. I've been trying to decide what I want to make as my Christmas cards this year and I have been having a hard time narrowing down my options. One option I came up with is this:

I really think it turned out pretty cute and it's super simple to make. I just stamped the candy piece from the Sweets for the Sweet stamp set in Real Red ink onto Whisper White card stock then punched out the shapes using a 1" circle punch. I stamped the "merry" sentiment from the Border Banter stamp set using Pool Party ink. I also punched out a strip of Real Red card stock using the Dotted Scallop Ribbon border punch to use as my small scallop layer on the bottom. I adhered the candy pieces to the white card stock using Stampin' Dimensionals so that the candies popped off the card. To finish it off I added a few rhinestones for a little winter shine. Pretty simple. One thing I would like to try is to stamp the sentiment in Basic Gray ink  instead of the Pool Party ink. It certainly would stand out more. If I have a chance I'm going to give it a try.

As far as making your cards, my suggestion is not to wait too long before getting a jump on those Christmas cards. December is just a couple weeks away! If you would like to schedule class time with me, please contact me as soon as you possibly can. I have several dates available but my classes are filling fast.

Autumn Accents Thank You

My very amazing, generous cousins stopped by about a week ago and dropped of a huge box of food and a few other things for me. They are such good cooks so I've enjoyed sampling the goods they brought by. But how do you thank someone for such a huge token of generosity? I called to thank them but that just doesn't feel like enough. I made this card for them, too, but "thank you" just doesn't cover it. Sometimes I guess there just aren't words to describe the depth at which people touch our lives and our hearts.

A Weekend With Pilgrims

I spent another super fun weekend crafting with some friends. I will share everyone's creations with you but I just *HAD* to show this one today. This is one of the cutest cards I've seen in ages.

Didn't that turn out so cute?! My friend Juliet made that Pilgrim outfit out of some generic card stock but to embellish she used the Postage Stamp Punch  for the belt buckle and the Petite Pennants Builder Punch  for the scalloped collar. I have to give her mad props for this card. I don't know how many she made in total but she sure did put her heart and soul into them. I also have to applaud her for being able to hand cut the shirt collars. I don't think I could have cut them as nicely and evenly as she did. Way to go, gal. They turned out so cute!

Supplies Used:
Card Stock: white, brown, black, gold (non-Stampin' Up!)
Pop Dots (non-Stampin' Up!, can use Stampin' Dimensionals #104430)
Postage Stamp Punch #122344
Petite Pennants Builder Punch #122361
